Not sure but it sounds like the basic idea of logic, which is best course even if the bleakest situation happens (D3 Gold). Not sure what media you would need for that or what observations, or of your processes that may be out moded. Or you may just be a quack or asking for something else like sex, drugs or some other kind of lingo. But it is called self preservation what you describe, ALL animals have it and all act on it as a part of a FAP, Fixed Action Pattern, basically what we desire most. All animals desire the passing of genes, food, and shelter in that order. Homo sapiens and a few other spieces are able to resist this at great strain to logical behavior. Resisting is not that special just more rare. This not only applies to the example you gave it applies to ever aspect of life. How we drive to work, how and what we eat, where we live, what we do in every single situation is driven by the desire for self preservation and pleasure. For animals it is just self preservation but we have the ability to desire things so that factors in. You can start by looking at FAPs but those are simple nearly autonomous actions.
how do you know animals don't do it for pleasure thats kind of presumtuous wouldnt you say? animals like to get petted, dogs, cats, thats not for survival. tigers and lions like to play and wrestle, thats for fun. monkeys play games with each other, even have teams. animals do stuff for pleasure too.
Don't throw your hands up in the air every time you come upon something you haven't been educated about (D3 Gold). It takes years of education and effort to discover, analyze, test, and learn all this information. Go to a university library and dig in. Most have large public sections, some have the whole library available to the public.
